| Q&A |

1/ Introduction:

Hong Kong is a society consists of multi nationalities and there are around 100,000 ethnic minorities (EM) from Asia countries. The EM mainly come from the lower socio-economic sector due to their language, social and cultural barrier. Presently the government and some non-governmental organizations did provide various basic support services to the EM. However, there are service gaps for families with children of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Special Educational Needs (SEN). Autism Hong Kong together with our collaborating partners had jointly organized more than 30 projects and events in the promotion of autism awareness in the greater China region in the past two decades. For the year 2022, we would like to turn our focus of autism awareness promotion and education activities toward the EM in Hong Kong.

2/ Objectives:

2.1 To promote awareness of ASD and SEN among EM families in Hong Kong; and

2.2 To raise care and concern on the difficulties encountered by the families with ASD and SEN among the EM groups in Hong Kong

3/ Programms:

3.1 Autism Awareness Promotion

SEN Info Kit in Facebook

3.2 English SEN Education Talk (Virtual)

Live Stream of English SEN Education Talks in social media (e.g. Facebook, Youtube & Twitter)

3.3 Face-to-face activities

Due to the prevalence of COVID-19 in Hong Kong, face-to-face activities are put on hold until the pandemic conditions is under control.

3.4 Virtual activities

In view of the COVID-19 pandemic we are looking for virtual activities to meet the needs of SEN children in the ethnic minorities in Hong Kong.  Details will be released in due time on virtual activities.

4/ Duration:

July 2022 to June 2023
